Korean-American vocalist, producer and visual artist Yaeji presents a new curated rave called Elancia, set for Friday, September 6 at 592 Johnson Ave in Brooklyn.

The lineup features staples from New York’s electronic scene including Gardens, Hot ‘N Spicy, Papi Juice, The Push, School of Hard Trax and Sublimate, with food and snacks provided by Korean restaurant Kichin. Tickets are available today—purchase here.

“Elancia is my love letter to the parties, DJs and friends that make New York my home.” Yaeji says. “When I first moved here, I was going out almost every night of the week, getting lost in the freedom of sound and expression holding space on the dancefloor. Bouncing around Brooklyn raves felt like I was playing my favorite childhood video game, Elancia—I met amazing characters, went on side quests, and learned more about myself.”

“The DJs on this lineup are residents and organizers of local parties that prioritize positive world building. All of my creative output as Yaeji comes from this community—they’ve allowed me to grow and have a platform. I want to celebrate the people that work hard to create these magical spaces by giving them the shine, primetime DJ slots and love that they always give to the artists they book. I’ll be joining many of them on the decks throughout the night, open to close. Elancia is about focusing on people who create spaces, showing ravers the different worlds that have been built, and hopefully inspiring new ones.”

Yaeji is currently on her debut headline tour across Asia with performances in Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and more, with further shows slated at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, San Diego’s CRSSD Festival, San Francisco’s Outside Lands.

Yaeji’s music is an invitation into an intimate, healing world, exploring identity and self-reflection through dreamlike house productions that morph from whispery confessionals to dancefloor burners. Born in Queens to Korean parents and raised in both the U.S. and Seoul, Yaeji’s world is one that splits between cultures and knows no boundaries. She puts her genuine self in all that she touches; — in her productions in which she sings and raps in both Korean and English, in her high-energy, hybrid DJ sets, in her Curry in No Hurry events, her merch and beyond. Pulsing with irresistible charm and spirit, Yaeji’s 2017 debut self-titled EP and EP2 captivated listeners and critics alike, garnering praise from NPR, Vogue, The FADER, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Dazed and more. Yaeji’s latest “One More” was released in 2018 to critical acclaim, with TIME calling it “sweet, whispery, enigmatic synth-pop” and V Magazine dubbing her “the queen of subtle club jams.” Yaeji’s new project is forthcoming.
