The Blue Door is exclusively premiering on Gunpowder & Sky’s horror brand, ALTER on Thursday, May 30th
This Thursday, May 30, Gunpowder & Sky’s new horror brand ALTER, will be releasing Paul Taylor’s BAFTA-nominated sci-fi thriller, The Blue Door, starring Gemma Whelan (“Game of Thrones”, “The End of the F***ing World”).
A district nurse (Gemma Whelan) is assigned a new patient living alone in a dilapidated bungalow. The nurse soon discovers that her dying patient, and the home she inhabits, are hiding a dark secret.
A note from The Blue Door’s writer and producer, Megan Pugh:
With The Blue Door we wanted to tell an original and gripping story that put performance front and center and earned its scares through solid, elegant film-making. The pace of the film is designed to increase exponentially, starting as a gentle tip toe and building to a blood thumping sprint.
Having no dialogue created a tension of its own, the challenge was sustaining that and letting the suspense build to a satisfying and nerve jangling finale.
For the environmentally conscious: The Blue Door is not just a horror short. It is the first of its kind. A 9 minute film, which showcases a beautiful set made from entirely recycled and up-cycled materials. Even the props and costumes were ecologically sourced, using both previous film and TV sets including local charity shops and thrift markets. The Blue Door proves just what can be achieved through sustainability and yet still provide a great drop back to a unique film.
