Fourth Annual Comedy Festival Features Danny Pudi, Aparna Nancherla, Jake Choi, Jenny Yang and more
MANILA LUZON JOINS THE COMEDY COMEDY FESTIVAL LINEUP
October 5, 2018 (Los Angeles, CA) —The Fourth Annual The Comedy Comedy Festival: A Comedy Festival will take place October 12-14, 2018 at the Aratani Theatre and Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC) campus in Little Tokyo. Co-produced by Disoriented Comedy and JACCC, in partnership with Asian AF, the 3-day event brings together the best of young, Asian-American comedic talent from Hollywood, digital media, and live performance.
“America is not ready for us! We have hilarious and exciting voices.” states writer, comedian, and Festival co-organizer Jenny Yang. “No one is waiting for Hollywood to catch up anymore. We have been building our community, strengthening our craft and creating our own platforms. This comedy festival is not just a festival. It’s a movement.”
This year’s festival performers include Manila Luzon (VH1’s RuPaul’s Drag Race), Jenny Yang (E!’s Busy Tonight), Jake Choi (ABC’s Single Parents), Sherry Cola (TNT’s Claws), Aparna Nancherla (Comedy Central’s Corporate, Late Night with Seth Meyers), Lilan Bowden (Disney’s Andie Mack), singer-songwriter Megan Lee, and more. Events include stand up, sketch and improvised comedy, storytelling, and musical comedy.

At a time when we need to laugh, it’s a great opportunity to hear the diverse voices of our larger Asian American, South Asian and Southeast Asian American community and it’s intersectional diversity. Cuz let’s be real, there are so many things to laugh at and laugh about right now!” shares Alison De La Cruz, Vice President of Programs at JACCC.
Since 2012, Disoriented Comedy has produced over 50 sold-out shows around the country. Disoriented Comedy and The Comedy Comedy Festival’s audiences are young, smart and socially-aware Asian American professionals and college students. For the third consecutive year, Disoriented Comedy is co-producing this event with the JACCC, the preeminent presenter of Japanese, Japanese American, and Asian American performing and visual arts nationally.

Hosted by Kat Evasco. Christine Medrano and Kiran Deol. Featuring newbie standup comedy by Amanda Suk (Marvel’s The Runaways), Sono Patel (Writer, CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and Mike Bow (Actor, YouTuber, ISAtv Host). Improv by The Comedy Comedy Festival Staff and Room to Improv.
