Gunpowder & Sky Adds Encore Screenings for Lil Peep Documentary ‘Everybody’s Everything’


Executive Produced by Terrence Malick, SXSW lauded Doc surprises specialty market with major Gen Z turnout, selling out theaters Tuesday and eyeing $1M Worldwide; Will Now Open in 18 Top U.S. Markets 11/15, Coinciding with New Posthumous Album Release

NEW YORK, NY / LOS ANGELES, CA / LONDON, UK – November 15, 2019 – Gunpowder & Sky, a fast growing independent global entertainment company, announced today that Everybody’s Everything, its critically-acclaimed documentary on the life and career of rapper Lil Peep (who VICE recently declared “Artist of the Decade”), will see a wider theatrical launch than initially planned due to the overwhelming response and strong box office of its early global Fan Event screenings that took place earlier this week. Having played Tuesday in 121 theaters nationwide and 154 internationally (across 37 countries and 10 languages), the feature-length documentary boasted 5 out of the top 10 theatrical engagements in the U.S., as well as the #2 per-screen-average at the U.S. box office,  #1 PSA in the U.K., and the #1 PSA in Europe. From the Fan Event screenings alone, the film has grossed nearly $400,000 in the U.S., and appx. $750,000 globally ahead of its traditional release this weekend. Due to increased demand, Everybody’s Everything will hold in 31 theaters in 18 top U.S. markets on Nov. 15th, the same day as Lil Peep’s new posthumous album of the same title.

In a multi-pronged partnership between Gunpowder & Sky, the directors Sebastian Jones and Ramez Silyan, Lil Peep’s estate (including his mother, Liza Womack, a producer on the film), and Columbia Records, there was a joint effort on all components of the release, including promotion, marketing, and audience outreach across all social media platforms. To target Peep’s substantial fan community, the theatrical release of Everybody’s Everything was set to begin with one-night-only Fan Screenings of the film (accompanied by exclusive content) nationwide on November 12th, co-presented by global distribution and marketing specialists Abramorama.

Utilizing a sign-up system on the film’s website which built a mailing list of more than 50,000 names, Gunpowder & Sky strategized a hyper-targeted release to make the film available in key areas most densely populated by Peep fans. There was also constant direct communication with his widespread fanbase through official accounts of Everybody’s Everything, the directors, Lil Peep, Womack, as well as Peep’s collaborators, to create a groundswell of awareness. The film received remarkable social media response with the release of the trailer last month, with 100+ film account mentions in fan Instagram stories per day. Throughout the campaign, there have been extensive efforts to coordinate with fan accounts as well as Peep’s major collaborators.

Gunpowder & Sky has significant history with music-centric films, having released Alex Ross Perry’s punk-rock epic Her Smell starring Gotham-award nominated Elisabeth Moss, Brett Haley’s Hearts Beat Loud, a touching ode to the powers of music, and Lords of Chaos, which chronicles the birth of Mayhem, the notorious Norwegian black metal band.

So many of the locations that booked the film did so because his legion of fans demanded it, and we listened.”

Everybody’s Everything was produced by First Access Entertainment and Beamer Boy Productions, in association with Liza Womack.  The film was produced by Ben Soley, and executive produced by Terrence Malick, Liza Womack and Sarah Stennett.

“There was an unbelievable amount of love and support from so many people in Gus’s life while making this film, his mother Liza first and foremost. We could not have made this film without them and it was important to be able to share it in a theater to feel like a concert experience and see Gus the way his fans came to know him,” said the directors,  Sebastian Jones and Ramez Silyan. “Gunpowder & Sky and Abramorama have supported that vision and brought it to life. It’s really a different experience on the big screen and hope more people continue to see it that way.”
