The Downtown LA Art Walk is pleased to present an exciting, large-scale mural by local street artist, illustrator, graffiti writer, and fine painter Aiseborn [AISEBORN – Visual Artist], which will be installed at the LA Art Show, and completed in a live painting activation during the Opening Night Premiere on January 10th, 2018.

Sponsored in part by Arts Brookfield, the oversized piece honors the remarkable, resilient, diverse, and eclectic culture present in the City of Los Angeles. Combining figurative elements, crystalline structures, and mandala-inspired patterns, Aiseborn’s mural explores mathematical constructs, energetic mysteries, as well as the potential for purification and, ultimately, transformation.

The Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk is a nonprofit organization that supports and promotes the visual arts and culture in Downtown Los Angeles. The organization produces and curates art installations and site-specific projects featuring local talent, including young and emerging artists with demonstrated ability, resourcefulness, and a dedication to a professional art practice that uplifts and enlightens viewers, while positively impacting the community.

As an individual, Aiseborn embodies many of the values that inspire the Downtown Art Walk each day: tenacity, and a dedication to creativity, community, and diversity. Aiseborn’s work is as uplifting as it is beautiful, carrying a message of hope and transformation, and demonstrating thoughtfulness, as well as incredible talent.

With more than 70,000 attendees and an audience that includes donors, art dealers, curators, private collectors and cultural stakeholders, the LA Art Show provides a unique platform for the Downtown Art Walk to present one special project each year, opening avenues to new audiences for the organization, and for featured artists, unprecedented access to art industry professionals.

Special thanks to Arts Brookfield for their sponsorship, to The Container Yard for hosting the artist during the development of this artwork, and to Graphaids Art Supply for providing art materials.

About the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk:
The Downtown Art Walk is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote community-building and economic vitality through the visual arts and culture. While the self-guided Art Walk occurs on the 2nd Thursday of each month, the organization’s programs take place year-round. In partnership with cultural stakeholders, local enterprise, property owners, corporations, the city, and public safety, the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk creates economic opportunities for local galleries, self-representing artists and artisans, small and micro-businesses, under-served youth, and low-to-medium income adult interns. The Downtown Art Walk has won many awards for its accomplishments in creating a safer, more livable community through art placemaking.

About the Artist:
AISEBORN [“Ace-born”] is an illustrator, graffiti writer, and fine painter living and working in Los Angeles. Known for his murals which often include aerosol portraits adorned with his classic one brush stroke techniques, Aiseborn creates geometric illusions that propagate rhythms intrinsic to nature, while his mandala-inspired “framework” replicates the ingenuity of sacred geometries. Aiseborn has installed several murals throughout Greater Los Angeles – on city streets, in backyards, parking lots, gardens, schools, rooftops, brick walls, sheds, and more. He has contributed to productions at the William Grant Still Arts Center in Los Angeles, the “Life is Beautiful” Festival (2015) in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the 2015 “Manifest Justice” exhibit in Los Angeles. Aiseborn designed murals for community service events with LA Works, and was also featured at the El Segundo Museum of Art with the Getty Museum in 2014, the A+D Architecture and Design Museum in 2016, and the California African American Museum in 2016. His first solo show titled “Worth the Weight” debuted during the Fall of 2016 at the Container Yard in Downtown Los Angeles.
