PLAINS is a short dance film caught somwhere between reality and a dream, spoken through movement. Filled with an aching sense of emptiness and loneliness, a free-spirited young woman leaves her home and embarks on an epic search for something to fill an unexplainable void she feels. Magical and mysterious lights, inspired by the Marfa lights, act as a beacon to what it is she so desperately desires. The melodies of PLAINS give life to the storyteller who acts as the woman’s spiritual guide. Seen in the natural beauty of the sweeping plains and stars all around, the songstress and the mysterious lights are one in the same, guiding the young woman back to the home she was once so anxious to leave. Ultimately, the woman learns to embrace the life and relationships she has been given, accepting that even when she may feel ‘lonely’ she is never truly alone.

With Dementia and Alzheimer’s now the biggest cause of death in England and Wales, Award winning director, Min Reid, felt compelled to write a script from the caretaker’s point of view. Inspired by American Artist Derrick Boudwin’s version of ‘Red’, a Taylor Swift song, Min Reid applied the lyrics to her interpretation of Alzheimer’s and the agony of losing a loved one to this brutal disease. Always keen to push the boundaries, Min created a music video that doubles up as a trailer for the full length film titled ‘For The Love of Fred’. Using poignant scenes, mainly without dialogue, set to emotive music. Within the music video, Min breaks with tradition and takes the audience back into the memory of the main character Fred, remembering when he proposed to his now Alzheimer’s wife… we then see a scene with dialogue in the middle of a music video. #RememberThePerson
