Brittany Snow, Emily Osment, and Megalyn Echikunwoke hosted a Tumblr Answer Time to answer questions about Almost Family, their new show on Fox premiering tomorrow, October 2.
Almost Family is about a woman who grew up as an only child and discovers that her dad fathered many other children as a sperm donor. Julia Bechley (Brittany Snow) unites with two of her half siblings—including past friend Edie Palmer (Megalyn Echikunwoke), and retired Olympic athlete Roxy Doyle (Emily Osment)—as they deal with issues that have been affecting their lives.
Q: What drew you to this project?
EO: What drew me to this project originally was the script in itself. I remember reading it during pilot season and you get a lot of scripts during pilot season. It was the only one that I read that I really truly connected with and thought was very different than anything else I’ve ever read. And I saw a little bit of myself in the character Roxie. She was a very interesting character with an interesting background and I was excited to dabble in some of her trauma.
Q: Have you ever done DNA testing in real life? Any surprise results?
ME: Well, I was too paranoid to use my own information so I convinced my older brother to do his and it turns out we are nine percent Italian and 25 percent Finnish.
Q: If Almost Family were a rock band, what instrument(s) would each of you play? Who’d be the lead singer?
BS: Emily and Megalyn both love singing and would definitely both be the lead singer. Julia would be all of the other instruments and they would be the leader singers. I would probably just be in the background and since I can’t play any instruments maybe interpretive dancing.
Q: If you had to be stranded on an island with one person from the cast who would it be?
ME: Definitely, probably, maybe Mustafa Elzein… don’t tell him I said that.
Q: Who’s most likely to make jokes on set?
EO: The person most likely to make jokes on set would be surprisingly, maybe to some of you, be Tim Hutton. Tim can’t keep a straight face. I hope you see this Tim. Tim likes to mess with me a lot while we’re shooting and try to get me to crack and he successfully does it.
Q: What’s your favorite Disney movie?
BS: My favorite Disney movie was probably Sleeping Beauty when I was little or Alice in Wonderland.
